The Atamo management team has been together as a group for a long time (see our History). We continue to grow in the areas of electronic product design and production engineering. Atamo applies engineering rigour, in whatever phase of the project where you require our assistance.
Atamo aspires to be a best-of-breed electronics design house in the Australasian region and the employer of choice for electronic engineering graduates in Western Australia.
The Atamo business model has always consisted of three components:
- Business consulting - applying sound business practice to businesses in growth, whether this means startups or getting to the next level.
- Engineering consulting encompasses a spectrum of fee-for-service activities broadly described as
- managed product development, for turnkey design solutions, and
- technical consulting, where we apply our expertise across systems or networks in design, review, and evaluation.
- Atamo products: we have always been a products-based company, and our main driver is recurring revenue from electronic products. Our first product the Wetronome started us off, and our portfolio received a boost when we took a major shareholding of Bushcomm at the end of 2006.
We are also amenable to a blend of these streams, where we will invest in a client's technology we believe has a strong future.
Atamo has shown a profit since inception. The founders recognised consulting work would allow short sales cycles to fund product development. Atamo's goal has always been to obtain recurring revenue through product sales.
Long-term Relationships: Atamo is proud of the long-term relationships it has established with its clients. As at fiscal year end 2009, Atamo has worked with its top three clients on average for five years, including its very first client, pieNETWORKS Limited. In return, Atamo has invested in the public company, and is listed in its top twenty shareholders.
Links to Academia: The company also maintains its relationship with academia, and has contributed to KCA Australasia, the peak body representing technology transfer from universities to industry. Our director Mark Callaghan chairs the industry panel of the University of Western Australia Electrical Engineering department, and he has successfully employed undergraduates at both Atamo and Bushcomm. The students have used their experience towards their degrees.
Defence: Atamo technical expertise and Bushcomm products have a role to play in Defence activity. Atamo is a member of the RPDE (Rapid Prototyping Development Evaluation) Defence/industry initiative, and the Australian Industry Defence Network (AIDN). In July 2009 Atamo was awarded a Defence panel contract for electronic engineering and network modelling activities. Key staff have security clearance.
