Sept 2011 - Congratulations Mr Smooth

Ace swimmer, super coach and Wetronome product champion Paul Newsome of SwimSmooth has successfully completed a solo swim crossing of the English Channel.

On Friday 9th September Paul completed the swim in a time of 12 hours 14 minutes in big seas and a headwind of 28-35 knots (50 to 65 kph). The distance is 34 km as the crow flies (but Paul is not a crow and he wasn't flying), an earlier crossing by another of Paul's team involved a distance of 57 km, such is the nature of the tides.

This is a huge achievement, and particularly memorable since there are less people who have successfully completed this swim than have climbed Mt Everest, or even been into outer space.
